Mile by Miles Counseling

Mile by Miles Counseling was established in 2019 as a means to reach more of the Richmond, tri-city areas, and Virginia with mental health counseling services.  Clinicians are dedicated to providing a safe, authentic, and nonjudgmental environment that is respectful and affirming of all individuals.

Jenna Miles (she/her)

LPC, LPC-S, PMH-C, Founder

Jenna is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), an LPC Supervisor (LPC-S), a National Board Certified Counselor, and is certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). She is also a preferred provider for Postpartum Support Virginia. Jenna has a Master's in Counseling Education and is diligent about remaining up to date in learning different counseling modalities. 

Jenna's experience in mental health includes having worked in inpatient psychiatric hospital settings, community-based mental health, adoption & foster care services, intensive in-home, and finally private practice. These experiences have offered her the opportunity to work with individuals diagnosed with different Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders, Couples & Family work, as well as several other mental health concerns.

All that to mean, Jenna has a genuine love for people. She is open to learning from and assisting individuals and couples as they unpack their own personal stories. Jenna is deeply passionate about accompanying individuals and couples through the trenches of life; the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Her approach to counseling lends to a more direct approach in that she challenges both herself and those she works with every day, asking hard questions and digging down deep. Working together in a collaborative and nonjudgmental way, Jenna provides a relaxed atmosphere of authenticity and mutual trust to allow you to explore issues that may be holding you back from living your best life. 

Counseling techniques are tailored specifically to you to help you achieve your personal goals. Jenna is truly excited at the opportunity to help you navigate through this journey called life!

Eloise McCorkle (she/her)

Resident in Counseling

Eloise is an experienced Resident in Counseling with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has worked within the mental health field for over a decade from her time practicing as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist in England. 

 

Eloise has worked alongside individuals with a range of mental health difficulties including Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive, Panic Attacks, Phobias, Social Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress, Long Term Health Conditions, and Postpartum Depression and Anxiety. Her therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Compassion Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy.

 

You are the expert on your experiences, and Eloise has a genuine interest in knowing your story and working collaboratively with you. Eloise will take the time to acknowledge, understand, and address all aspects of your cultural identity and how this can influence your wellbeing.  Eloise’s warmth and compassion creates a safe and non-judgmental environment to help you process significant past events and increase personal insight and awareness. During your time together, you will gain practical strategies to break cyclical habits and develop coping skills to manage adversity and achieve your goals. Eloise is passionate about empowering individuals, and through your growth you can experience healing, renewed strength, resiliency, and self-compassion.

 

Eloise is British.  She is accustomed to the unique experiences and hardships that come from relocating as a military wife. Eloise has two children and embraces the everchanging highs and lows that shape us in motherhood. Her experiences in motherhood sparked a passion for maternal mental health.

Chelsea Kasinger (she/her)

Chelsea is a Resident in Counseling, National Certified Counselor (NCC), Air Force Veteran, and Navy spouse committed to empowering individuals to unlock their inner strength and thrive. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is dedicated to helping others achieve inner peace and clarity.

 

Chelsea utilizes a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including Gestalt therapy, Exposure therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), positive psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). She offers an eclectic and personalized approach tailored to meet your specific needs. Chelsea is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and techniques in these areas, ensuring that she provides an inclusive therapeutic environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds.

 

With experience working with military service members, veterans, college students, and the LGBTQ+ populations, Chelsea specializes in anxiety, ADHD, PTSD and sexual trauma, stress management, and life adjustments. Additionally, she has a growing interest in geriatric care and performance based challenges. Chelsea strives to create a safe and nonjudgmental space for everyone, where they feel welcomed, heard, and respected. She is dedicated to providing empathetic and culturally competent care to every client.

Lauren Shaulis (she/her/they)

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017 with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Since that time, she has been able to garner experience in a variety of settings including hospice, emergency room/inpatient mental health, outpatient counseling and non-profit settings. She is particularly passionate about supporting those who are grieving/experiencing loss, maternal mental health, and women's issues/relationships. 
 

Lauren’s priority is to collaborate with you to build a life aligned with your strengths, values, and life aspirations. She is ready to partner with you on this journey of self-exploration and acceptance in a comfortable, relaxing, judgement-free environment. At times, this journey can be challenging. Lauren is ready to support those challenges while also pushing you outside of your comfort zone if needed. This can be hard work and the ultimate goal for this therapeutic process is to leave you feeling empowered to embrace your needs and have hope for your future. She is ready to support those seeking short term support or those who are striving for continuous personal growth.

 

During the therapeutic process, a variety of interventions and approaches may be used when navigating the complex feelings and emotions that come with these mental health concerns and life stressors. Lauren employs a strength-based, holistic approach when working with each individual client. It is important to remember and include the impact of experiences from the family, social, culture and spiritual dimensions. Lauren is LGTBQIA+ affirming and culturally competent. She looks forward to supporting adolescents, adults and couples on their path to achieve their personal goals.

 

When not working Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to the beach, exploring the RVA restaurant scene and reading a good book.

Courtney Dressler (she/her)

Courtney is a Resident in Counseling, Licensed School Counselor, and has a professional background in higher education. Courtney is a midwest transplant, originally from Indiana, and holds a Master of Education in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi, Ole Miss.
 
Courtney embraces a collaborative counseling approach, striving to empower clients to lead their counseling journey, as the expert of their lives, situations, and experiences. In her role as a counselor, she provides clients with support through reflection, perspective, and by serving as a sounding board. Courtney implements a variety of therapeutic approaches in her work, including but not limited to: Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Adlerian Therapy, Strength-Based, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Play Therapy Techniques, and Multicultural Therapy. Courtney implements an individualized approach and tailors therapy sessions, techniques, and approaches to meet the unique needs of each client. Courtney considers herself a life-long learner who takes an active role in professional development, in order to provide her clients with high quality counseling services. 
 
Courtney spent the last 5+ years providing academic and career counseling services for college students. She enjoys supporting clients in life and role transitions. In her higher education tenure, she also worked as an on-call crisis response professional for 5+ years, providing care and support to students, staff, and family members of students in times of hardship and tragedy. She responded to crisis intervention calls ranging from intimate partner violence and trauma to unexpected death and grief. Courtney is experienced working with children and adolescents to provide behavioral therapy, implementation of coping strategy development, and aiding with navigation of family and life adjustments. Additionally, Courtney has professional interests in providing counseling services to individuals seeking support with self-esteem, body dysmorphia, disordered eating, and identity development. 

 

It is of the utmost importance to Courtney that she provides a welcoming, diversity affirming, empathetic, and culturally responsive space for clients of all backgrounds and identities. Courtney believes in the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion and is dedicated to making counseling a safe space for clients to feel listened to, understood, and supported. She advocates for a more equitable future of the counseling profession and its service to underrepresented, underserved, and historically marginalized communities.  
 
Outside of her role with Mile by Miles, Courtney works professionally as a school counselor in Northern Virginia. She loves to spend time with her dog, Elmo, who is training to become a therapy dog and provide animal-assisted therapy. In her free time, she enjoys indulging in her favorite reality television shows and is an avid sports fan. She loves keeping up with all things WNBA and her alma mater's NCAA football team, Ole Miss, on fall Saturdays.
